Year 3 Long Term Plan

Autumn

Tribal Tales

In this History topic, children will develop knowledge of prehistoric times. Children learn how early human culture and land use developed during the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

Mighty Metals

In this combined Geography and Science topic, children will learn about forces, magnets and the incredible properties of metals. This topic develops children’s knowledge of metal names, where they are found, their main properties and how metals can be used in everyday life.

Spring

Rocks, Relics & Rumbles

This erupting Geography topic teaches children about the features and characteristics of Earth's layers, including a detailed exploration of volcanic, tectonic and seismic activity.

Walk like an Egyptian

In this History based topic, children become immersed in the Egyptian life, developing knowledge about key events and lifestyle at this time.

Summer

Gods and Mortals

In this History topic,  we develop children’s knowledge of the ancient Greeks.. Children learn how and when the ancient Greek civilisation flourished, and understand their culture, armies and heroes.

Sun, Sea and Surf

This is a  Geography based Topic focusing on UK seasides in Cornwall to develop children’s understanding of coasts in the UK. Time for a little holiday!

Year 3 PIPs Meeting
